TICKETS: $5.00 per person
DOORS OPEN: 6:15 PM
SHOW STARTS: 6:30 PM

As the culmination of its first ever training day, the newly-opened Hughes Academy of Pro Wrestling is putting on a show in the evening and throwing the doors open wide to the public! Veterans from the New Zealand wrestling business will compete in a special one night tournament, including the Head Trainer of the Academy, Graham Hughes. The evening show also offers a chance for the new trainees to showcase their talents, as there are two coveted slots in a special tag team match for two trainees who manage to prove they've got "the right stuff"!

The matches on offer include the following:

WOMEN'S MATCH: SUZIE Q vs SCARLETT

These two wrestling divas last faced each other at KPW / High Wire Wrestling School's event "BAYS WRESTLEFEST II" earlier this year, with Suzie Q picking up the win with a timely sunset flip. The training that Suzie Q received from veteran Miles D'Rock has obviously stood her in good stead, as the wresting diva has danced around the competition and into the fans' hearts. Tough, competitive, technical and talented, Suzie Q is ready to take on the best. With one victory over Scarlett already, Suzie Q has the psychological edge - can she parley that into another victory?

Scarlett has benefitted from being a longtime student of the professional wrestling business. Combined with her natural tendency for vicious cunning, this makes her a formidable opponent in a delectable package. This flame-haired vixen flaunts her looks to gain any advantage, genuinely believing herself to be better than her co-competitors. Scarlett will be looking to take any short-cut to victory in this rematch-of-sorts to establish herself as alpha female, but I'm sure that Suzie Q is more than up to the challenge!

ONE NIGHT TOURNAMENT

This show will also host a special, one night single-elimination tournament for perhaps the most coveted prize in professional wrestling - "bragging rights"! Note that with two members of Rodeo Drive in the same tournament, the "A-Listers" could have this thing sewn up before it's begun! Always scouting for new talent, their latest prospect is rookie wrestling diva Raven Vogue.

Those wrestlers currently scheduled to compete in the tournament are as follows:

- "Marvelous" Mark Freemantle. Canadian-bred. High-flying risk-taker beloved by the fans. Hitting the gym hard lately to gain extra power to complement his already formidable speed.

- "The Natural" Steve Jordan. Current KPW Tag Team Champion. Member of Rodeo Drive. Breakout graduate from the High Wire Wrestling School in Tauranga. Less than a year in the business and possessed of such natural skill that he was admitted to the elite Rodeo Drive stable. Terrible attitude and morals, but a great wrestler with tremendous potential.

- Shane "the Shooter" Sinclair. Ex-KPW Tag Team Champion. Ex-KPW Champion. Unsurpassed amateur technical background, hence his moniker of "the shooter". Never met a hold he couldn't escape. Equally adept in the air or on the mat. Quick, deadly, experienced.

- T-Rex. The "Grumpasaurous" from Invercargill. Relative newcomer. Never known to smile. Disdainful of the fans. Apparently, only gains satisfaction from battering opponents to jelly. Wields formidable power.

- "The Standard Hero" Graham Hughes: Head Trainer at the Hughes Academy of Pro Wrestling. Easily the most experienced man in this tournament, which makes him one to watch. Over twelve years' experience wrestling in New Zealand and all over Europe. Trained by the best in England. Dazzling array of moves and counters.

- Kade Morgan "3G". New Zealand's only third generation professional wrestler.

The closest thing to a total package in this tournament, having speed, owe, experience and a strong pedigree. Able to absorb a tremendous beating and unleash devastating power moves.

- Inferno. Ex-KPW Champion. One of the more experienced wrestlers in this tournament. Channels his fury into thrashing his opponents senseless. Excellent ring tactician, adept in the ring or outside on the floor. An extremely versatile wrestler, he is equally skilled at tag team or singles competition.

- "Ayatollah of High Rollas" Charlie Roberts. Current KPW Tag Team Champion. Member of Rodeo Drive. Best trainers, best supplements, worst attitude. Never met a rule he couldn't find a way to bend or outright break. In top condition at the top of his game. Tremendous physical conditioning, devastating array of innovative moves and ruthless drive for victory. Always on the lookout for the best talent to invite into the "A-List" team.

SPECIAL TAG TEAM MATCH: "The Fixation" JIMMY FOXX and a TRAINEE versus LAZARUS VOLT and a TRAINEE

Jimmy Foxx - a man so fixated on his own greatness he was once fatally distracted by his (admittedly amazing) reflection. Foxx tends to be his own worst enemy snapping when the fans down't show him the respect he feels he deserves. His anger sometimes gets the better of him, and overshadows his phenomenal tactical acumen and array of devastating moves. Confidentially, I think Foxx could get so mad he'd take all three other wrestlers in this match - including his own (mystery) tag team partner!

As for Lazarus Volt, the "little man from the big top" has shown himself to be a tag team specialist. He could be partnered with almost anyone and form a formidable force. Volt's speed and unorthodox tactics allow him to remain one step ahead of the competition, and he loves to entertain the fans.

The opposing two slots in this special tag team challenge are intended to be filled by the two trainees who most impress the trainers at the Graham Hughes Academy of Wrestling training day. This special match provides "new kids on the block" with a golden opportunity to showcase their talent in front of a live wrestling audience, and it also provides a "curve ball" for each of the opposing team "captains" to contend with, as they won't know with whom they'll be tagging until much closer to the opening bell!

Card subject to change.
