HUGHES ACADEMY HOSTS TOURNAMENT; KPW STARS SHINE

The Hughes Academy of Professional Wrestling put on its first show on Saturday 11th May.  Kelston Girls High School in Auckland played host to the special one night tournament for the Hughes Academy trophy.  The talent from KPW, Maniacs United and the Hughes Academy itself threw itself into the mix to put on a sterling show for the assembled wrestling fans!

The following are the quick results from the event:

 

- In a triple threat match, EL CONDOR beat Stix and El Grindo (the Mexican human pepper-grinder), when El Condor reversed a rana attempt into a powerbomb for the win by pinfall.    

 

First round tournament matches

- INFERNO beat "Marvelous" Mark Freemantle by pinfall with the Extinguisher (lifting inverted DDT) to advance to the second round

- The head of the Hughes Academy of Professional Wrestling "The Standard Hero" GRAHAM HUGHES beat "The Natural" Steve Jordan (with Raven Vogue and Alex "Danger" Donahue) by pinfall with the Tomorrow Driver (brainbuster into a knee) to advance to the second round

- SHANE "THE SHOOTER" SINCLAIR beat T-Rex by submission with a heel hook to advance to the second round

- CHARLIE ROBERTS of Rodeo Drive (with Alex "Danger" Donahue and Raven Vogue) beat Kade Morgan "3G" by submission with a chickening over-the-shoulder crossface (following interference from Alex "Danger" Donahue and Raven Vogue) to advance to the second round

 

Second round tournament matches

- INFERNO pinned Graham Hughes by pinfall after stunning Hughes with a metal chair to advance to the final. 

- SHANE "The Shooter" SINCLAIR beat Charlie Roberts of Rodeo Drive (with Raven Vogue, Steve Jordan and Alex "Danger" Donahue) by submission with a heel hook to advance to the final.

 

- In a special mixed tag team match, ANGEL (of Maniacs United) and LAZARUS VOLT beat Krystal Kaine (of Maniacs United) and "The Fixation" Jimmy Foxx when Angel pinned Kaine with a rollup.

 

- In an impromptu non-tournament singles match, a mystery Hughes Academy prospect beat "The Fixation" Jimmy Foxx by pinfall with a side Russian legsweep. 

 

- In a change to the scheduled match, SCARLETT beat Alex "Danger" Donahue of Rodeo Drive (substituting for an injured Suzie Q) (with Raven Vogue, Steve Jordan and Charlie Roberts) by pinfall with a curb stomp.

 

Tournament final match

- SHANE "The Shooter" SINCLAIR beat Inferno by pinfall with the Dead On Target (the devastating manoeuvre formerly known as the Techniplex) to win the coveted Hughes Academy of Professional Wrestling trophy.
